SSAT Preparation
Full coverage of all SSAT topics for private school admissions testing including verbal, reading, quantitative, and writing skills.
Who This Is For
Students in Grades 5–9 applying to private day schools, boarding schools, or independent schools that require the SSAT. Best results come from starting at least 4–6 months before the application deadline. Students taking the Middle Level (Grades 5–7) and Upper Level (Grades 8–11) are placed in different groups.
Course Content
Verbal section: synonym and analogy training built on a structured vocabulary list of high-frequency SSAT words. Reading: passage-based analysis across literary, humanities, science, and social studies texts. Quantitative: arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and word problems at SSAT difficulty levels (Middle Level vs Upper Level). Writing sample: prompt strategy, structure, and short timed practice. All four sections drilled with real past SSAT material.
How ToIvy Teaches This
SSAT verbal rewards a strong vocabulary built over time, not crammed in two weeks, so we start vocabulary on day one and revisit words weekly. Reading and math are taught as fundamental skills that happen to be tested, not as test tricks. The writing sample is treated seriously because admissions readers actually read it.
Class Format & Structure
Weekly group sessions plus an intensive block before testing windows. Past-paper mocks every 4–6 weeks under real timing.
